YACHTMASTER OFFSHORE | CLIPPER CREW PREPARATION
8 Week preparation for the Yachtmaster Offshore Examination

We offer a bespoke 8 week course designed specifically to take recently experienced Clipper Crew through to the coveted RYA Yachtmaster Offshore ​external examination.

Is this Course right for me?

Several RYA training centres offer 'fast track' yachtmaster courses. We differ because we know the strengths - and weaknesses - of most experienced Clipper Crew. You have the miles, experience at sea, an ocean crossing or several and you've probably seen big weather. You are probably a half-decent helm and trimmer and you may have some other transferable skills.

Weaknesses may include boat handling, navigation, boat management, passage planning and taking charge of a vessel - i.e. 'skippering'.

We have designed our 8 week course to build on the strengths and address the weaknesses. It's a short time to get a candidate to Yachtmaster and it is an intensive course. However, it can be done with focus and dedication. That is why we insist on minimum entry criteria. 

Minimum Entry Criteria for the Course

• Candidates must have completed all levels of Clipper Training within last 36 months
• Candidates must have at least 2,500 logged sea miles within last 12 months
• Candidates must have competed in at least two legs of the Clipper race within the last 36 months.
• Ideally candidates will have the RYA Day Skipper Theory Certificate (not compulsory).

All training crew may live aboard full-time if they desire. Periodic rest days are allocated throughout the 8 week course period.

• Use of two yacht types in contrasting & challenging tidal locations (UK Solent & Western Mediterranean)
• RYA VHF DSC Radio Course
• RYA Diesel Maintenance Course
• RYA First Aid at Sea Course
• All necessary 60 mile Qualifying skippered passages
• Minimum 30 days on-water tuition with qualified & experienced RYA Yachtmaster Instructors
• Additional 5 day Intensive, pre-examination, Yachtmaster 'Prep  Week'
• Free charter yacht for your RYA Examination Weekend
