The Ocean Sleepwear Sleeping Bag is one of just two known to us that is manufactured for specialist marine applications - i.e. extreme offshore sailing and cold, damp conditions. The second manufacturer, Gauss Marine, no longer makes bags.



The Ocean bags are simply fantastic when used in the Southern Ocean or North Pacific. Or the UK between November & April! They're double fleece-lined with a heavy-duty external Gore-Tex outer layer. They will comfortably accommodate someone up to 6ft 2 inches tall. The bag packs down to 60cm x 50cm x 50cm.



My circumnavigation was made much more comfortable by a marine sleeping bag! Unfortunately, they aren't much good for much else as they are bulky - making them no good for hiking or climbing. And they are expensive, coming in at up to £400 plus shipping!



Now you can hire an Ocean Sleepwear Marine Sleeping bag for as little as £69 for a week's Clipper Training, saving you £££s on buying a new bag. Shipping is limited to within the UK mainland. We can ship to your UK mainland home or the Clipper Training Office. We usually ship 'next day', on a Wednesday, to allow delivery by Thursday afternoon, but you can define a specific delivery date, below.



​Hire charges include a £100 returnable deposit when hiring items from us. This is returnable upon the safe return of the hired item in accordance with our terms and conditions of hire.


When you have finished with the bag simply return it to us.

DELIVERY OPTIONS

We can deliver to your home in mainland UK or, alternatively, we can ship to Clipper's Training Office.
Just give us your required delivery date. Allow a day for slippage (by the shippers, not us, obviously!)
 We are based in the UK. All deliveries to UK mainland addresses are by way of tracked and insured shipping. 

If shipped to Gosport Training Office or to your home, define the date you want the item delivered (allow 48 hrs for shipping slippage by the couriers).

If you book a return with Parcelforce, you can drop it at the local Post Office when returning your Ocean bag.
You can return items directly from your UK home address or book a shipping service & drop it off at a local drop off point in Gosport. Make sure to use a tracked and insured service. Parcelforce offer a service for about £12 with £200 insurance.

**Regrettably, shipping costs are not refundable unless you are returning the item due to the goods being faulty or damaged, in which case please make this clear in your returns request.

WASHING THE SLEEPING BAG

If you haven't elected to return without laundering, you will need to launder & dry the bag before returning. We have set out guidance below for your assistance.  If you have selected the 'please launder for me' option, just return the bag in the stuff-sack and dry bag it arrived in. 
Care Advice & Top Tips by Ocean Sleepwear®

Outer 'Bivvy' Bag
  • Machine or hand wash on Cool setting with half measure of non-biological detergent
  • Tumble dry on Cool setting or drip dry
  • Do not use fabric conditioner or bleach. Do not iron
  • Close zips fully to prevent damage in machine

Pile Inner Bags
  • Machine or hand wash at 40.C with normal measure of detergent
  • Spin dry to get as much water out as possible
  • Tumble dry on Cool setting or drip dry
  • Do not use fabric conditioner or bleach. Do not iron 
  • Close zips and join Velcro fully to prevent damage in machine

Stuff sack
  • Machine or hand wash at 40.C with normal measure of detergent
  • Tumble dry on Cool setting or drip dry
  • Do not use fabric conditioner or bleach. Do not iron

Top Tips
  • When joining the inner bag to the outer, start matching the Velcro at the head end, next to the zips, as this will make a neater job and avoid any bunching and will produce a more uniform join
  • When rolling your bag, firstly, fold the top of the head flush, leaving no pile from the inner bags exposed, then roll from the bottom towards the head and secure with the strap. This will give the maximum protection, in-case someone in their foulies makes themselves comfortable on your bunk, or opens an overhead hatch!
  • Always fully dry your Ocean Sleepwear® bag before storing away for long periods of non-use. To get the longest life from you bag, it is much better to store it loosely folded – not crammed into its stuff-sac
  • All items are hired subject to a £100 rental deposit (returnable at the end of the hire period)
  • All items are hired and returned subject to our fair wear and tear policy
  • Items may not be re-hired or otherwise transferred to a third party by the customer
  • All hire agreements are net of shipping costs (see cart at checkout for details).
  • Our 14 Day returns policy does not apply to hired items. This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

  • Items hired must be returned within 4 working days of the end of a race leg or training period for which the item was delivered. Where an item is hired for more than one training period or race leg you may be required to return the item to us between hire periods unless the legs are concurrent. If unsure please email us.
  • All items are delivered to our chosen DPD Pick-Up point or to your preferred UK address at a time to suit. 
  • Items are supplied in good condition and freshly washed / laundered. We ask that they are returned in the same condition and in accordance with our fair wear and tear policy. If you have chosen the additional laundering option just return the item in the bags it was received in.
  • We recommend you use tracked & insured shipping when returning the item.
  • Failure to return the items in the same condition as they were hired (subject to our fair wear and tear policy) may result in the loss of your hire deposit and/or an obligation to make good the loss by up to the value of the sale price of the item.​
